The rain and dreary days are par for the course here in the Pacific Northwest. Despite the rain (and if I’m honest, maybe because of it), I’m actually in love with this area of the world. All of that rain makes for mossy tree trunks, lush plants, plenty of coffee drinking, and ample excuses to curl up with a good book. The folks here don’t wait for things to get dry before going outside and poking around in the woods, they embrace the weather. I love that about living here, too. We decided to meet at Bellevue’s very own piece of wetlands, Mercer Slough, for this session. The sun made a welcome appearance near the end of the session (I may like rain, but I like a healthy dose of Vitamin D, too!). This lady and her beautiful tribe were an absolute joy to photograph. Documenting families and their own inherent rhythms, their idiosyncrasies, the things that make them work and unique, makes my heart sing.
